Venezuelan Panel Expansion implemented

1/1/2007 - Venezuela

As from 1st Jan 2007, a panel expansion from 485 HHs to 770 HHs was implemented in Venezuela.

This expansion added two new cities (Puerto La Cruz & Ciudad Guayana), to the ones under measurement (Caracas, Maracaibo, Valencia and Barquisimeto) as well as the incorporation of the peripheral areas of Caracas & Valencia, necessary to restore 22% of the younger population which had to emigrate in recent years from the Federal District to the outskirts of those cities for economic reasons. A second stage of the project was the incorporation of a Digital Panel, which together with the existing Cable Panel, is now jointly reported as “Pay TV”.  All of these developments were previously approved by the local JIC.
